Ten on the Tenth in September

10 Things in September brings you 10 things I've learned being a mummy.

1. To wear spit up milk with pride.
2. Baby wipes are the elixir of life.
3. A stash of toy cars in your handbag is not only normal but essential.
4. Your chocolate is not your own.
5. Every inch of grass must be covered by trampolines, swings, slides, playhouses and sandpits.
6. Going straight to the children's clothes section over the woman's section is normal.
7. A never ending supply of chicken dippers, dinosaurs, yoghurt, Dunkers and tomato sauce lives in your kitchen.
8. Toys, crumbs and melted in chocolate must be accepted by anyone who wants to ride in your car.
9. You stick more things to your car than you knew possible; mirrors, mobiles, seat tidies, DVD players, toy steering wheels, sun shades, aerial antennas and still feel the need to add a baby on board sign!
10. I love every minute.

Every month, we blog ten things on the tenth. Your ten things can be absolutely anything you feel like sharing. Pop on over to Shimelle's blog and link to your specific blog post so we can all come read your own list of ten.

Grandma's Round-Up

***don't forget to enter my 100th blog post giveaway here***

My 10 Things in May brought you ten pages/photos/projects on my scrappy to-do list. Today I made a start on number five on my list; to look through my Mum's 'Jack' album and take a note of what is missing. I started by taking photos of the pages that I have done and here they are...

I made this page today using Bo Bunny's Blast Off! The photo was taken at Edinburgh Zoo in September 2009. It is a photo that my Mum loves (not that she doesn't love EVERY photo of 'Grandma's little star', hence the title), so I really wanted to include it in the album. I like the page so much I am in the middle of creating another one of my album.

Jack's second Halloween and the first time he did his 'funny smile' face. Supplies for this page include MME Boo to You, Bazzill, Thickers and K&Co.

Jack's first Halloween at only a little over two weeks old, using Bo Bunny's Whoo-ligans collection. I think most of the embellies are by K&Co.

This is Jack at the Almond Valley Heritage Centre in Livingston. I used WRMK's 72 & Sunny.

Jack's first Christmas and first Santa costume. I think the embellies are by Reminisce but I'm not too sure.

Jack in the snow December 2009 not too sure whether he should laugh or cry. I used Echo Park's Wintertime.

Jack only 6 weeks old doing the funny 'hands up' thing that babies do. Suppies are LYB Babysaurus.

Jack's first ever photo! I used Simple Stories Baby Steps for this page.

This is as far as I got but it's a good start. I now know what I've done and can think about what else I would like to include.

I would love to hear about any projects you are working on for other people? Thanks for stopping by, Kirsteen x

Ten on the Tenth in June

***don't forget to enter my 100th blog post giveaway here***

10 Things in June brings you... my top ten items on my baby boy bump to-do list.
1. Find out where the hospital is. Nevermind the labour ward, the hospital will do! We have a 'rough' idea, but it's a new hospital and only opened earlier this year so we should figure out exactly where it is.

2. Start thinking about/packing my hospital bag. I have my eye on the Sunshine Holiday backpack, mini overnight bag and the trolly case from Papercase.

3. Bring all of Jack's baby clothes down from the attic and have a good old ooh and ahh through them.

4. Buy a new change bag. I have my eye on this one from Pink Lining.

5. Convert the cotbed back into a cot, and add the cot top changer.

6. Empty Jack's toy box and find homes for all of the toys.

7. Buy wicker baskets and a clothes tidy for the wardrobe in the nursery. I've been spending a lot of time sitting on the toy box looking at all of these lovely things, it's so exciting to think a little person will be wearing all of these clothes really, really soon.

8. Test the baby monitors. We had to buy new ones as Jack's had stopped charging. We went with the BT ones you can see in the photo above (at the bottom in the purple box). Seemingly you can play your iPod through them. Suggestions of a Pink Floyd playlist have already been made. I'm thinking more along the of lines sounds of the rainforest and Playhouse Disney.

9. Build the baby gym and bouncer chair from Grandad.

10. Decide on a hospital leaving outfit for the bump. Jack was born in October so he wore a bodysuit, sleepsuit, a velour pramsuit, woolie hat and a little blanket. I'm thinking along the same lines but a cotton hat and perhaps a Summer pramsuit. Can you buy Summer pramsuits?

Ten on the Tenth in May

10 Things in May brings you... 10 pages/photos/projects on my scrappy to-do list:
  1. A photo of my friend Lesley, heavily pregnant with her beautiful baby bump number two. The photo was taken at least two years ago as my Goddaughter (said bump) is now over two years old and I have had the photo waiting to be scrapped for an age.
  2. Jack's 4D scan photos. I've just booked a 4D scan for Jack's little brother so it's really about time I got my scrap on. And it's the last of Jack's scan photos I would like to scrap although I think I'll include a scan photo for Jack's Gramdma's album so coming in at number 3...
  3. A 2D scan photo of Jack for my Mum's album.
  4. Which reminds me - look through my Mum's 'Jack' album and take a note of what is missing.
  5. Work on my neice's and nephew's albums. I have five on the go and a neice on the way. Love it!
  6. A Disney page. Just because I haven't scrapped a Disney page in so long and I really want to start filling up my American Crafts D-ring album and putting my WRMK divided page protectors to good use. Specifically I'd like to scrap the Hollyday Hollywood Parade we watched at MGM Studios in December 2007 as I have a lot of photos that I would like to include in my album but don't want to commit a whole 12x12 page to each photo so the divided page protectors will come in really handy here.
  7. Scrap The Bump's scan photos. So far I've have three scans and no scrapping. But The Bump is still in that too scared to start, too important a project to 'mess it up' stage in my scrappy thought process so maybe that's one for after August. And I haven't found an album that makes me go oooh buy, buy, buy yet...
  8. Which brings me nicely on to number 8. Decide on an album for The Bump.
  9. Organise, remove duplicates and order more photos for Jack's 'normal' photo albums and add journaling.
  10. Back-up photos from old and new laptop, and take external hard-drive to my Mum's for her to copy and keep a second back-up.
Not too much to be getting on with. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some progress to report!

10 Things in February

10 Things in February brings you... 10 random pregnancy things {you may or may not know} about me right now:
  1.  I am constantly thirsty.
  2.  Nothing. And I mean NOTHING quenshes my thirst. Water, milk, orange juice, Coke, lemonade, cranberry juice, apple juice, Tizer, limeade, cherryade, Appletise, Irn Bru, diet, full fat, caffeine free, with ice cubes, without - NOTHING!!
  3. I already have a huge bump but when you are under 5 foot tall that tends to happen. Nowhere. Else. To. Go. But. OUTWARDS.
  4. I have gone completely off chocolate although I refuse to be beaten and almost always eat a least a small piece of chocolate every day. Just in case the aversion has passed, you don't want to be wasting any valuable chocolate eating time!
  5. I can only brush my teeth with Collgate toothpaste. You can keep your Aquafresh.
  6. I can't stop brushing my teeth.
  7. The driver who crashed into the back of my car on Wednesday night is also pregnant. (I am absolutely fine - there cheers for my old jalopy and although the other driver had to go to hospital she and bump are also fine).
  8. I am hitting the shops tomorrow to buy my first pair of maternity jeans (for this pregnancy, obvs I had pregnancy jeans when I had Jack).
  9. My next scan is on 28 March when we will find out the sex of the baby. We won't keep this a secret. We couldn't even if we wanted too!
  10. I am not looking forward to the sleepless nights. Zzzzzz

I'm a Proud Scrapbooker

A little later than scheduled, inspired by this post by Shimelle, I bring you 10 Things I love about scrapbooking...

1. Supplies. I am not gonna lie. A huge part of my love of scrapbooking stems from my addiction to all things stationery. Hand on heart I spend more time swooning over my supplies than actual scrapping and that's OK with me. I ENJOY stroking and organising my crafty goodies until my hearts content. They make me smile. And I LOVE to see my supplies used up and on my pages for everyone to see and share their absolute beauty.

2. Shopping. Hello. My name is Kirsteen and I am a shopaholic. It's true. I am. I can honestly say that I look at new stash and new classes every. day. in. life. Searching for the prefect collection or finding a class that is 'right up my street' makes my heart sing. And why ever not.

3. Surfing. I have a PC, laptop or smartphone within my reach at all times. I have scrappy websites I check every day (UKScrappers), I follow fellow scrappers, scrappy stores and manufacturers on Facebook and Twitter. And I sub to lots n' lots of amazing blogs via Google Reader (one of my favourite bloggers - Stephanie Howell). I love reading about inspiring projects, new ideas and exciting developments in the scrappy world every day. I love that I can be a part of blog hops, and circle journals (not that I have ever done this but I could, you know) and online crop parties! Full on scrappy excitement 24/7 at my fingertips.

4. Planning/squirreling. I am a planner. I love to plan. I love to plan holidays, days/nights out, parties... in fact, I start every day with 'so what's the plan?' I didn't earn my title at university as the 'minx co-ordinator' for nothing you know. So it comes as no surprise that I love to plan my scrapbook pages. I love to collect 'things'. Tickets, maps (oh maps how I love thee), coins, wristbands, receipts, napkins, badges, clothes tags, postcards. I collect them ALL. I love to think about the types of photos I want to take and where. I love to pull out all the supplies that I think will work well with a particular project, and find that perfect paper or embellishment lurking in my stash. I have books upon books of 'scrappy ideas' (did I mention my notebook addiction?) I love nothing more than to scribble a memory down just as it's happened knowing that I don't have to rely on my dodgy memory bank to remember it.

5. Living. It goes without saying that I love to live life more than I want to scrapbook it. But knowing that I am going to scrap those moments. Knowing that I am going to remember them and be able to re-live them in far more techni-colour detail than I ever could if they weren't scrapped makes those moments all the more amazing!!

6. Sharing. I love creating pages for my family and friends. I love the looks on their faces as they look at their photos scrapped and preserved along with their story. And I'm not going lie. I like it when they woop over my 'creations'. And my heart did skip a tiny beat when I gave a friend a mini album of her wedding day as a first anniversary gift and she cried. I love that I can plan albums with them and tell them about the prefect collection I have found for their photos. I am lucky. They share my excitement. And for that I am forever grateful to this hobby that I can share with my friends and family even though they aren't scrapbookers themselves.

7. Friends. Without a word of a lie I have known my bestest scrappy friend for as long as I have been scrapping (2005) - Mandy Charlton you know who you are :) I loves her and I love that she 'gets' my scrappy obsession. She inspires me and and makes me laugh every day. Go on, go say hello to her on Twitter she's a hoot. I am a member of a team on UKScrappers, each of whom I love dearly. Absolutely Scrapulous girls - I love you!! I met our 'leader' Mon last year for lunch even though we live 100s of miles apart. We would never have met if it wasn't for scrapping and I thank my lucky stars for each and every one of my scrappy friends.

8. Learning. I have learnt so many new things about scrapping and most importantly, about myself and I am so excited about all the things I still have left to learn. And there is so much to learn.

9. Talking. Yup. It's no secret. I like to talk. And I love to talk scrapbooking. And I'll talk scrapbooking to anyone who will listen. Luckily, my husband is a great listener or slightly deaf... one of the two.

10. DOING! Knowing that I have a scrapping day or 30 minutes planned. Or that moment when a page comes together just how you'd imagined it or even better. You can't bottle than!!

I hope you've enjoyed my 10 things I love about this fantastic hobby or ours :) If you love scrapbooking as much as I do why not pop this cute image from Shimelle on your blog/signature/social networking site.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy Scrapping!! Kxx
